General Responsibilities of Teaching Staff Include assuring that the environment and classroom program meets the mission of Community Child Care Center (CCCC) and complies with all program standards, policies, procedures and rules specific to the individual program. Lead teacher is responsible for curriculum planning, evaluating and monitoring children’s progress through assessment and observation, meeting and communicating with parents throughout the year, and organizing and keeping child, family, and classroom records. Key teaching staffs serve as positive role models to other staff, parents and children and are expected to perform and communicate in a professional manner as representatives of CCCC.

Lead Teachers - Are responsible for assuring that all classroom responsibilities are carried out to completion. The lead teacher sets the tone and atmosphere for the classroom and often takes on the role of a coach and mentor for other classroom staff. This position supervises and monitors other classroom staff. This position works in partnership with management staff to implement program direction and operations.

 Assistant Teacher - Are key classroom staff and share equally in carrying out classroom responsibilities in coordination with the lead teacher. This staff member assumes full responsibility for the classroom during the absence of the lead teacher and is expected to fully participate in all classroom and program activities.

 

Family Advocates - Head Start/ECEAP contain a family support component in which staff work in partnership with parents to assess and identify strengths and challenges, develop individualized family or personal goals, identify needs and complete appropriate referrals, provide appropriate assistance and track progress. In many cases Teachers work in part-day classrooms and carry the responsibility of the family advocate for their families. In some cases the family advocate is a position of its own.
